About JK’s Local Meat Cave

JK’s Local Meat Cave was opened by Jason Zotek and his business partner JR Justesen with the idea that Campbell River needed its own local, medication-free meat shop. The J in JK’s is for Jason, whose dream of opening this store is being realized. The K in JK’s is for Kelly Everill his partner and artiste/musician extraordinaire. Our logo, mural and window art is all done by Kelly. Local is in the name because it is in the product. We try to sure everything as locally as possible. And Meat Cave, well that pretty much speaks for itself. If you’re a carnivore then you can’t beat our meat!

The idea began with a desire to supply only Island raised beef, pork, lamb, chicken and turkey. It turns out that this was more difficult than expected so when we cannot source from the Island then we will also look to Vancouver and the Fraser Valley to keep your food as local as possible. Even our spices, rubs, mustards and honey come from local businesses.

A local food system is one that grows and harvests its food from close to home. This type of food system is more sustainable and by avoiding the need to ship food across the world, it allows smaller mom and pop types of farms to exist.

And we don’t only carry fresh meat, we also have locally produced finished products such as Perogies, Pot Pies, Sausages and Lasagnas.

What’s not to love about that? If you believe in your food sources the way we do please come down and allow our products and our customer service to win your heart, your stomach and your loyalty.
